Groups here work very much like groups on Facebook.  Any registered user can create a group, and once that group is approved it has it's own wall that group members can post on.  Also, a new forum is automatically created for each group that only members of that group can view.  If you have a special interest that you want to discuss, by all means create your own group and recruit some friends!
