I went with something non-traditional this year, and I hope you like it. I've felt for a long time that Kipling is an apropos author for the Deathlands / Outlanders milieu. Although best known these days for The Jungle Book, he is properly remembered by military historians for his evocative tales of British soldiers in India. His stories of battling strange enemies in an exotic and almost-alien environment are echoed in the rad-blasted environment of the Deathlands. Kipling was writing apocalyptic fiction before there even was such a thing.
And so, if this Christmas greeting is perhaps not as heartwarming as you might expect I do hope that you will take it in the spirit offered. To all of you, a very Merry Christmas, a Happy Hanukkah, a Joyous Kwanzaa, a Festive Festivus, or if nothing else then glad tidings.
