Kharo-Khoto: The Black City
Located deep in the Black Desert of Mongolia is an ancient city. The city was built over a Archon ship. The following is a description as seen through the eyes of Brigid Baptist in Late September of 2198.
She stood in a vast cavern which was circular in configuration which was about fifty feet from floor to ceiling but couldn't determine how far it spread. Right above her was a metal lipped hole about a yard in circumference that lead to the surface.
The floor was tilted at about a five degree angle from the norm and was covered in dull alloy plates that buckled and bulged in places. Massive wedged shaped ribs supported the roof and sides of the cavity. These huge girders bore strange hieroglyphics arranged in neat vertical rows. Over head were six gigantic metal tubes running along the roof. From one of the tubes emitted a cascade of light from a large crack. It was obvious that the structure was actually a gigantic ship.
A few yards behind the damaged cylinder was a staircase that led to a railed gallery. Between Brigid and the Gallery stood an oblong pedestal which was about three feet in height. Four small pyramids constructed from a pale gold alloy were arranged around it. Resting on the points of the pyramids was a smooth crystalline ovoid around five feet long. It was filled with cloudy smoke like substance.
Inside the ovoid was the remains of an Archon.
Over the gallery was a transverse ramp overlooking a big hollow bay. Within was a saucer shaped object about twenty feet in diameter, held in place by clamps. It had a silvery metallic surface with no protuberances. Bright red symbols were painted on the hull. Not Hieroglyphics but Khalkha prayer inscriptions.
She continued to explore the ship. She discovered a pair of twelve foot tall solid black cubes, one on top of the other. The smaller of the two rotated. It was a duplicate of the power plant in the Dulce redoubt. Around her rose electronic machines like she had never seen before. Panels bore an intricate arrangement of keys and redoubts marked in the Hieroglyphics symbols. In the center of one panel glared a red backlit triangle bisected by three vertical round topped lines.
A metal framed rectangle of deep glossy black hugged the curve of the wall above the main console. It appeared to be polished obsidian ten feet in length and three feet high. Four chairs rose from the floor before it. They were small and narrow.
Opposite the console stood a vertical arrangement of armaglass slabs forming a hollow cylinder. They were bound together by ropes and rusty chains. A door was built in place. Behind the door two thick metal pillars rose from the deck of the ship, each six feet tall. On top of each was a sphere that looked like it had been sculpted from quarts. Between the pillars the floor was raised slightly like a Dias. Atop was an interlocking pattern of hexagonal plates like those in the Mat Trans chambers.
These metal plates were used to bombard anyone placed on them and modify the victims genetic pattern. Changing it. The Tushe Gun had used it on himself and it warped his body and mind. After being stripped and placed on it for a brief period of time the strange rays caused chromosomal damage to Brigid and rendered her sterile.
The secret behind the Black city was revealed at last. The Archon ship crashed here ages ago and the basis for many oriental myths and religions sprang from the ship. It is quite possible that the first altered homo sapiens may have emerged from the craft itself.
