Krysty Wroth is a tall, beautiful mutant woman. She was rescued by Ryan Cawdor after her uncle Tyas’s convoy was attacked and destroyed by a band of marauding mutants lead by a mutie named Scale.
Her full, long red hair seems to possess a strange sentience of its own. When things are relaxed, it hangs loosely around her head. When danger is near, it tends to cling closely around her head. It actually causes her a great deal of pain if her hair is pulled or cut. This isn’t the only mutation she possesses. She is also a partial doomie, able to occasionally ‘see’ the future, or when those she cares about are in danger For some unknown reason, her monthly cycle messes up her ability to 'see'. She also possesses uncanny hearing, without suffering pain from loud noises. Yet another side effect of her being a mutant is that she heals at an incredible rate. Finally, she is able to call upon mother Gaia to increase her physical strength to inhuman proportions. In ‘Red Holocaust’, she demonstrates it twice. The first time is to lift a three hundred pound bar bell as if it was made of paper. The second time is her using it to break the locked door in the camp of Apostle Herve in order to say Hen from being sacrificed. The downside of this ability is the fact that she is left totally drained after using it, sometimes near death.
Another disadvantage is her mutant hair. Cutting it can be incredibly painful for her. Whenever she needs to have it cut, she usually gets very drunk, or will sometimes use jolt to reduce the pain.
Her mother Sonja Wroth taught her how to use and control her mutant abilities. She also taught her how to be a peace with herself, to remain calm and detached when she is in great danger (as when she as waiting to be raped by Scale).
It seems that her mothers mutations were even more pronounced than Krysty’s. She could actually control her hair, use it to grasp and pick up objects with it. Her control over her strength is even more profound than Krysty’s.
She her uncle Tyas McCann, and a small convoy were heading into the darks to try and locate a special ‘gateway’, Tyas discovered about while reading old documents. This ‘gateway’ was supposed to be a way out of the Deathlands to a better world. He also used to talk about Russkies with his friends. He believed that the Russkies were responsible for the war.
Her uncle also seems to have taught her a large number of songs from the pre winter days. He has taught her a great deal.
She lost her virginity to a young man named Carl Lanning when she was only fourteen. He had been instructing her in unarmed combat, and she learned her other combat skills from her uncle.
It was discovered that in Time Nomads, Ryan and Trader had encountered Krysty and her family once, about ten years previously when they rescued their small convoy from an attack carried out by Alias Carson's sec men. They only just realised that they had met once before.
When it comes to combat, both armed and unarmed, she is more than a match for your average man.
She also takes great pride in speaking properly and is constantly correcting Ryan’s grammar. She recieved excellent education from her family and those in the ville of Harmony, and know's a great deal about plants, so much she could easily be a botanist.
It seems that she has a case of wanderlust. She, from time to time (according to Pilgrimage to Hell), would head off on her own into the Deathlands to explore on her own. Little is known about her time doing this.
After being rescued by Ryan, she was still determined to carry on her uncles last wish to find this ‘gateway’ by any means possible. She was even willing to sell her body in a whore house in order to get into the darks.
She has fallen deeply in love with Ryan Cawdor and they are constantly discussing settling down and rasing a family, as she is tiring of the constant running and fighting. The fact that Ryan has a ten year old son has changed things a little, but not too much.
One thing that was discovered is that Krysty was taught, once again by her mother, how to remember all her dreams.
