I think Doug Watchamacallit used to post here under the unusual name of Doug. His ego was almost as large as his creep factor.

There was a time, long, long ago (long before 2006), when ja.com was a deeply troubled place. There was envy, backstabbing, blowhardery, and teeming vicious falsehood. Sides were taken. Phony FBI agents brayed. "Discussions" devolved into namecalling—and worse. Tender feelings were bared, posters wounded left and right, puppets reared sweatsock-sheathed heads, authors took insult. All the bad vibes made the groves of Ron's mutated lollipop trees wither and die. Then came The Expulsions which like a wave of cleansing flame swept away the rancour and spite. And ja.com entered its Golden Age—a new dawn of reasoned debate and mutual respect, of sober, mature reflection.

 

So, do you guys think Mildred needs a new hairdo, or what?

Yeah, beaded, smelly dreads are sooooo yesterday!

When does she get the time to do them, and by now they must surely be dragging the floor...

Speaking of hair in DL, what about Krysty? Do you think her "prehensile hair" cuts itself? Washes itself? Does it go apeshit when she shows it scissors? Has her hair ever DONE anything but curl up when confronted by DANGER?

Okay, got to be honest now, LJ is the only DL author I've ever read. I've never read word one of any other DL writers. (If I could have figured out a way NOT to read my own DLs and still get them written, I would have jumped at it.) So I don't know if it's done anything more. But if it hasn't, Krysty's mutie hair thing could be a creative treasure trove. Her hair apparently has a mind of its own and some kind of independent sensory array. Although it is firmly attached to her head, all that red hair could still have its own agenda. (Kind of like Normal Head and Baby Head in Damnation Road Show. ) When Krysty says, "Oooh, I hate my hair," her hair could hate her back. It could squirm up her nose or down her throat to get even. It could wrap around her neck and choke her silly. It could tie itself to the bed frame and refuse to let go. It could grab a full auto blaster and ...

THINK OF THE ADVENTURES.

 

She could teach it to communicate with the others. Or maybe a hair puppet show.

I'm sure it was mentioned in at least two of LJ's books that Ryan cuts Krysty's upon occasion. She has to have a lot to drink (ever the excuse eh!!) before hand as the alcohol dulls the pain.

Hey Mr. Philipson, the way the Deathlands storyline flows I know that the authors do not get together and discuss the books but I am just curious if you personally knew Mr. Boot and Mr. Pollata?
