I will be performing a major software update to the site this weekend which involves updating the core software to DotNetNuke v6.2.3 as well as updating the Forum software and some other detail bits. There is a better than even chance that the site will crash during the update (I will have backups to restore from), and in any case the site could be down for maintenance for a significant period of time. I will let you all know when the updates are complete. Thank you for your patience.

Update: I had to postpone the update because one of the components has some serious stability issues. My understanding is that the fixes for that are done, the code was checked into source on Thursday evening, but the updated module has not been released yet. I expect that to happen in the next few days, so I will hopefully be performing the site update next Saturday, September 15th.

Update: That module I was waiting on was released today. Baring any unforeseen delays, I will be performing the site update this weekend.

Well this has been a waste of a day. The upgrade was a complete bust, I have rolled back to my backups from 3am this morning. I apologize for the inconvenience, and I will regroup again tomorrow.

This morning I am working on setting up a local copy of the website so that I can walk through the upgrade process again and see again exactly what is gone, in an environment where I can run database traces (and not disrupt the real website). Hopefully that will help me identify the specific problem, so that I can reach out to the developer and get some assistance. If nothing else I will be seeing him in person in about ten days.

I am making progress. I now have a local copy of the website that is running flawlessly. Now all I have to do is methodically apply the updates and then trace the errors that are happening. This is great progress.

Things are looking good. The new activity feed is added to the home page, and the new profile and messaging pages are mostly set up. I still have more work to do, but things are looking good.
