Folks, I pretty much need to come right out and admit that for the past few months I have been completely burned out on running this website.  I have taken on a new position at work that I am very excited about, and I have let things around here slip.  I have at least a half dozen covers for upcoming books that I haven't gotten around to posting, plus various other updates.  All I can say is I am sorry, and thank you to everyone who continues to hang around in spite of my inattention.  I am doing a little resting and recouperating right now following five business trips in two months, and I hope to come roaring back soon.  If you need anything you know where to find me.  I promise I haven't forgotten you all, there just  haven't been enough hours in the day.

No problems.  I'm certain there are other venues for snide comments against Gold Eagle and their writers.

Dude.  I post that I am burned out and need a break, and you respond with something that is clearly flame bait and that will likely cause me extra work?  Not cool, man.  Not cool at all.

Since Mark quit, there's no reason for the two or three folks who liked him better than they liked the publisher to say anything here.

Besides, they say all they want behind their firewall protected forum fortress.  They've said that I've had ruinous run over this message board, so they stopped coming here.  They're not going to give you any work to do.  It's the sad truth, this place has become a ghost town.

Without wanting to fan the flames I have to agree with Ron on this one. It has been comments like yours above that have caused so many problems here over the last few years.

It used to be a good group of folk that came around here and one by one they got driven away by constant flame wars, stupid low brow comments and fights between new folk that only wanted to argue that one GE series was better than another.

Yes it may be as you said a ghost town around here now but you have to stop and realise that YOU Skaramine, in your many previous guises around here, that caused a good few members of this once happy forum to move on elsewhere.

No worries Ron. Spend time with your loving family, get all the support you need, walk away from the site for a time.

As I continue to get the covers, I'll scan and fire them off your way. If and when you get them up, great.

    You're right, Baz.

The interaction with Mark was one of the draws of the forums here...after he stopped participating and after some of us veteran members tried to jump-start discussions like the old days and those discussions turned snide and full of personal attacks over trivia , a lot of us moved on....more than three or four.

I don't blame Ron for getting burnt out.

I'll tell you why I think the forum has turned into a ghost town:  because an online community is like a garden.  It needs constant and careful tending in order for it to blossom into something beautiful.  It needs weeding, it needs to be watered and fed, and it needs attention to detail on the placement and variety of plant life in order to create a healthy and interesting place to spend time in.  Left unattended, all you will have is crab grass and dandelions.

I've posted this before, but it doesn't hurt to make the infrequent reminder...

For many years, Ron and Chris essentially acted as Gold Eagle's unpaid, volunteer marketing and promotion department in regards to Outlanders and DL.

Without their efforts, I seriously doubt either series would be around today (some might argue that's not necessarily a bad thing, but--).

Ron...you've more than earned the right to leave the garden unattended while you occupy yourself with far more important issues.

Y'know...I've heard rumors that Gold Eagle now has a crackerjack, uber-cutting edge marketing and promotions department.

So let them accept the responsibility for maintaining the garden from hereon out. If they don't have the inclination or the wherewithal to do so, then it's certainly not your lookout to keep it healthy...certainly not for free.

It's ok to let some crab grass grow around here Ron, if it means taking some time to tend to your own needs and well being. I've always apreciated having this site to visit, and am glad for the work you have put in it.

My spies tell me that this place would have received more traffic if I weren't here.

So much for the history of interaction with creators.

    Bye, Ron.

Take your time off we will be fine for a while.  then mud will be flung and you will weed it out and so forth. I like this site it's how i know when new DL & OL books are coming out.   You have a life outside of this site you should take tim to do what you need to do.
