I agree that most people who own guns probably are not quite as "brainy"perhaps as JMD BTS and myself.Only problem is people have been murdering each other and waging wars since 4000 B.C.(and that's just recorded history)
My point being that as scary as it is that alot of firearms owners might not be people who should own them,if you took them away they would just find some other means or devise a weapon to kill or rob with!

i bought a $17 crossbow a few years ago...looked like the biggest POS...took it out and the damm thing shot a short crossbow bolt like 200 yards! and penetrated like 6 inches of straw..i mean really...$17? I was like :-O even if we didn't have guns you can still F someone up big time with cheap weapons.

I built a bunch of them as a kid, I even had a 12 gauge Zip Gun at some point that I only fired once because it damn near ripped my arm off... I even built a .22 zip gun out of plastic piping that I fired dozens of times...

I completely agree with you guys, sick people are gonna find a way to kill each other not matter what... I will never give up my right to own a firearm... I mean I live about 30 minutes from Detroit and crazy stuff happens around here all the time! lol

Here in KY. we have a concealed carry permit if you are not a felon or have a known history of mental illness.The mandatory training class is 80 bucks and the State carry permit is 60.
I have mine.I carry a Sig P226,a tactical remington folder(razor sharp)and a pair of brass knuckles.(the permit covers all 3)

yeah i know all about KY..I was there last year for my company for the NRA show and found it amazing to see peeps walking up with their guns on them...for a former NY resident like me..that is nuts..thankfully MD (where i am now) the laws are a tab more lax...i'd still like a CCW but can't without a good reason (like carrying $$ everyday) oh well...

JMD &BTS,Do you guy's think it is a little odd that out of a site that has 1709 members only 8 are in our weapons and firearms group?
Maybe I am wrong,but I would think due to the nature of Death Lands being a men's action/SciFi series that is very gun based,we would have more members?Who does not own or use a gun in this world that we live in?Are we the ones who are clueless?Or the guy's who will be screwed when something happen's and they will need a gun?Harsh language alone might not stop a mugger or protect your family.

Honestly OEV, guys like us will just never be able to understand people like that... It is honestly alien to me... I could never live were I live without owning a firearm for protection... I live outside of Detroit and like I've said before... crazy stuff happens around here all the time! lol...

Who does not own or use a gun in this world that we live in?

Without wanting to get into any sort of argument here I have to say this:

The world is not just the United States. Yes we have gun crime but I feel safer walking around without one knowing they are illegal than wondering if everyone including the paperboy is packing a suprise.

I do realize that the world is not just the US Jim,No offense taken. though you have to undrstand that Europe is nothing like the US,The middle east,or Africa(entire continent)In all of these countries it is a very good idea to be proficient with firearms.

And trust me,if you did live in the USA and you had been a victim of violence or your home was broken into while you were there,you would understand our way of thinking a little more perhaps?

Your point of view is completely understandable Jim, if I lived in a society where the only people who carried were either the govt. or criminals, I would feel compelled to follow the law... I live right outside of Detroit and drive bys, gang fights, gunshots and things like that are a fact of life here... I cannot give up my right to own a firearm, but safety is my entire reason behind this, I don't go around carrying a piece looking for a fight, but I can and will fight back if I have to...

BTS and OEV I do understand both your points of view and sadly the carrying of firearms is getting more and more common this side of the pond by those kids who think themselves "Gangsta's".
It is a sad fact that:

1) There are now more fireams in the UK than BEFORE they made them illlegal !!

2) On any given Saturday afternoon here in Liverpool city center 1 in every 7.4 people you pass is carrying a pistol of some sort. (Saturdays are used as more people visit the city center on that day on average). Furthermore 1 in every 4 is likely to be carrying a blade of some sort (again illegal here) !!

I see your piont Jim.I realize that more people dont own firearms than do.That is the point I am getting at.To me that is just insanity to think that you (meaning everyone)would not want to have the means to save your own life or the lives of your family.You see,while you can't unferstand the gun lover's mentality.we can not understand the non gun owner mentality.
