Destiny's Truth 12/27/2003

Wow and I thought Amazon Gate was lame. This book was the most boring book I have read in years. Not one bit of it was believable, plausible, or remotely entertaining. I liked the first 3 books this author penned in the series but these last 2 were garbage. I give it a 2.

DESTINY'S TRUTH RINGS FALSE!
by One Eye Chills
This 2nd installment of The Illuminated Ones could have been great with more thought and care given the writing. But what keeps it down is the constant weak action writing that is a main staple of DEATHLANDS novels.
This particular writer doesn't know much about weaponry and combat due to his weakness in these scenes. This is alot of building up of battles - but they are always so dull and simplified! The Illuminated Ones have to be the worst bad guys thought up in this once stellar series.
Then you have the build-up of the Amazon warriors and their quest and love interest with Jak that falls very flat at the very end.
It was if the writer just could not think of a good way for them to part ways. This had all of the needed elements for another good DEATHLANDS story, but the weak battle scenes along with weak characterizations, make this yet another let down.
There are so many inconsistancies in this story, I wouldn't know where to start. The meeting and chilling of the leader of the Illuminated Ones was a prime example of terrible execution of battle scene. And there is not much remorse between the armorer and Mildred when she is near death from the disease. This could have been written much better and been very interesting to read if the writer would show us some emotion.
By the end of the book, and what should have been a stunning battle climax - I found myself breeze-reading just to stop the pain.
God, what happened to this series? Please Gold Eagle Books, pay some good jack to get some of those great writers back!!
