It is funny that you ask this question, since I just finished MOTHERLODE last night.
Well, as much as I love and respect Victor Milan's work, this latest DL is just OK. Nothing mind blowing, unfortunately. It is not a bad book, just not a memorable one.
And to answer your question, Silentalbino, the author never tells you what state this is in. It is just called Amity Springs. Usually the back cover synopsis tells the reader where the companions are, but this one never does. Very strange. But after reading it, and trying to discern where in the DL this place could be, the surrounding countryside he describes could be somewhere out west, perhaps around New Mexico way. California?
Motherlode is pretty much another somewhat typical baron vs baron book. What was strange to me was, there were threads here that kinda went no where, and those story threads could have led to a much better storyline.
I don't know how much you fans out there want me to reveal here, so I will hold back from giving a full review here until you guys say you wanna hear more.
