Rupert Murdoch's News Corp. bought the company for $415 million cash. Or was it $455 mil? Mike Newton posted a link on his facebook page.

Not sure how this will affect Gold Eagle, I haven't heard any details from anyone involved yet. I do know that Victor Milan just announced a few days ago that he had signed a three-book contract, which would mean that there are contracted books in the pipeline through 2015. It seems unlikely that they would kill the series before then. Plus, my impression is that DL is still very profitable. I would be surprised if they killed the imprint.

Actually, according to Publishers Weekly it was bought by HarperCollins for $455 million Canadian, pending approval by that government.

And yes Dorothy, this is the Apocalypse.

Rupert Murdoch. Sigh. Sorry to see the loss of another Canadian company. I have heard nothing.

I asked Mark Ellis and his reply was "I think it's safe to assume that it won't be good for any under-performing imprint." That was in reference to Golden Eagle.

I think that this could be a good thing for GE, after all very few sales lead to the buyer closing down the company they just bought. I do hope that the brains behind this deal are not just interested in making money by any means. Time will tell ,so i'm just waiting and watching and hoping for wonderful things.

Don't be silly, what else would they be interested in
