Having just recently finished Encounter & Pilgrimage to Hell, It got me thinking that i would like to see some more stories about trader and the war wags. It could be either just a remeberance novel in the current series or a mini series of its own. maybe called the trader years or the war wag chronicles. it can start when ryan joins or start at the beginning and document how trader built up the war wags. i would be interested in this anybody else.

While none of the titles come to mind at the moment, there are quite a few DL books that contain more on the Trader and the war wags. I'm with you, it seemed to me that many of the best DL books included the Trader. I liked the war wag characters best and would have liked to have seen more about them, but sadly they chose to kill them all off and move on.

    I agree wholeheartadly with this.

A mini series on Trader building up his legacy, meeting Ryan and J.B. and other subsequent favs like hunaker etc would be supremely cool.

reinforcing his base, making the war wags, searcxhing for redoubts/caches etc would make for some good reading, The novel where Ryan was sick in...i think it was northstar rising, or the one after, and the whole book was basically about him reminincing about his time with Trader and J.B on one of there treks, was one of my all time favourites.

Time Nomads. Its in my top 3 DL books along with Dectra Chain and Bloodlines.

More storylines like that used in TN would be a good way to allow the new authors to move away from the blinkers that GE force them to wear when writing a book.

Have the group rest up in an area for a few months or a year and have all the books that come out in that time have each of the characters tell a tale of the times before the group got together. Doc's would be amazing (his time prior to being flung forward in time and maybe the time leading up to his capture by Teague and Strasser), as would Kristy's -just what did she do before Ryan showed up and how did she get to be where she was when he found her ?

I think they should do a story where an aging Dean comes through a black hole from the future and completely reboots the Deathlands timeline. It would be Ryan and J.B. as twenty-somethings just starting out on the Trader's convoy, and because of the altered timeline they would meet Krysty as a teenager, and rescue Doc from Cort Strasser before he is so damaged. Of course, Jak would wind up being a toddler, but what could be more fun than a cranky child with knives? But they have to make the whole thing read like a Mountain Dew commercial with lots of skydiving and racing fast cars up to the edge of a cliff and stuff.

(OK, seriously, I did like the new Star Trek but it kinda played like Star Trek babies....)

I remember that one was when Ryan ate the Fish against Mildreds advice.

I remember he carried a Ruger Black Hawk instead of the Sig.

I enjoyed his battle with the 7/8 foot Native American Indian giant he fought!

I think this is all agood idea.

When is someone going to finally do a good Death Lands Movie or regular series?

I think Hugh Jackman w/an eye patch would be a great Ryan Cawdor!

    Excellent Idea!

Ryan was at least 1o yrs younger (25)at some point and assuming how much of a hrdass he is now it would be neat to see him younger and even meaner!

I agree,Adding Jak was the best move the author(s)ever made(and Mildred and Dean are cool as well)

I relly was disapointed at how fast Okie and Hunaker (both hot women)were killed off.
Not only were they interesting characters but there would have been even more of that post apocalyptic sex/rape/eroticism that usually figures into some Death Lands stories.(Hunaker and her Bi sexuality.as well as Ryan and Okie's past sexual adventures made things a bit more interesting in the group)
I laso really liked Okie because to me,she was the most well armed character in the first few books.
Hennig and Finnegan's death only improved the stories I think.

Unfortunately, this Trader-era flashback stuff was one of the functions of Dean in the series that GE couldn’t get its head around. While helping Dean grow up, Ryan (and readers) could have relived the mysteries, the mistakes and triumphs of his own youth and his days with Trader.
