Brian Keene is a really cool guy. He's got quite a nice little message board of his own.

Sorry about the resurrection here but I had to do it... I really like Keene's work, especially his Zombie novels which are some of my favorite books ever... but a thought crossed my mind as to how AWESOME it would be if he were to write a DL book... with ZOMBIES!!! lol, I can't help but be a little excited about something like that... Imagine the Companions being awakened in a pitch black redoubt by the terrifying moans of a zombie horde, only to find that their last jump had short circuited the Mat Trans system! Low on ammo and unsure if this could be their last few moments together, they set out valiantly to take out as many of them as they can before they go down! Yeah... maybe I should just write the book lol...
I like Keene alot... but I love DL!

Didn't Cold Asylum have some sort of zombies in that wierd redoubt come morgue ?

Then again they may have been cannies or ghouls ?

In all fairness, what we think of as zombies today would have been considered ghouls 40 years ago.  Until George Romero came along, zombies were people entranced under a voodoo spell.  Even when Night of the Living Dead came out, the word zombie was never used (in fact, I remember reading contemporary reviews of the film talking about the ghouls in it).  I think it was Dawn of the Dead that cemented the current conception of what a zombie was.

I do love me some Savage Chickens.

I tried to hook Mr. Keene up with GE and DL earlier this year, after I quit (for the umpteenth time). Made the necessary intros for him, etc., but as far as I know he never followed up. He may have been too busy, or maybe he was grossed out by the “compensation package.” Men's adventure pays worse than Horror?  Yikes!

In Cannibal moon Al introduced Creutzfeldt-Jakob disease (human version of Mad Cow disease).  Wouldn't be much of a stretch to combine that with radiation poisoning to create a kind of "zombie".  Just a suggestion to an upcoming author to run with. Remember LJ's liberties with Science, It is Science Fiction after all. As for Men's fiction not paying as well as Horror.....there's a guy up in Maine that practically owns his own town that I guess could affirm that one for us.

Actually that guy finally wised up and moved to the Keys. 

If I have one regret about leaving DL, it's that I DIDN'T do a balls-to-the-wall zombie book.  Well maybe two regrets:  that I tore up the last contract which was for a book about the South Pole that reunited the companions, Chucho, and Harmonica Tom.  Oh, well. 

Yeah that does suck a bit.I would have enjoyed more of Chucho amd Harmonica Tom.Your Plaugue Lords books were 2 of the better by far that has come out in DL in awhile.Especially compared to Edens Twighlight.Ugh........

King had a great chance to make an awesome Z book, and tossed it down the crapper... is it better to have tried and failed or to never have tried at all?

I must admit though, PL and DR were both really good... the only way they could have been better is if they somehow involved zombies! lol
I said the same thing to my wife about our wedding.

I absolutely loved the first act of Cell , it was a terrific opening. Then it turned into a bad retread of The Stand for no good reason. I hated that book with a passion, all the more so because it started off so well and then pissed it all away.

That's something I have noticed about alot of King's work,The stories usually start off good,build to a huge final act,then....nothing

I reference; The Stand/NeedFull Things/GunSlinger trilogy,etc...

If by "GunSlinger trilogy" you mean the Dark Tower books, there were seven of those damn things. I never made it past the fourth.

Yeah,I never got past 3,so I did not realize there were any more,and it was years ago.
