Huh.... I remember reading that series and the spin off just out of high school. I found the series to be entertaining, although the constant head shots, the whole 'I know something but you don't' got really annoying.

Still, I read both for the entire run.

Be interesting to see if it gets brought back.

Although I'm not surprised to see the series being re-released, after all they're doing that with the terrible 'Ashes' series by Johnstone. New covers and all...

Wonder if Graphic Audio will be picking it up?

I hate to admit it, but I ended up buying and reading the book.

It was painful.

I remember enjoying the series when I was 20, but no longer.

The dialog was laughable, the way the characters interacted and talked to one another seriously made me laugh out loud, and I know that it wasn't written that way.

David Robbins could have really added a serious amount of padding to the novel, as it seemed really funny how - for the most part - the various characters made it to the 'home' over a short period of time without anything really happening (with the exception of the one pilot who's plane was downed because of EMP).

And, as is the case with all the books from that era, it was pure B rate pulp. Not necessarly a bad thing, if you're looking for escapism, but it's no longer my choice when it comes to literature.

A few other things that bugged me about the book - a construction worker who's got no qualms about killing people with a hammer, later to become one of the 'warriors' in the home. And don't get me started on what happened to his hammer later on in the novel. That was one thing that really had me shaking my head.

The head of security, who just happens to be the president of a major security corporation, pretty much acting like an errand boy?

The home itself, suddenly choosing a whole new lifestyle in a matter of weeks, instead of letting this entire new society evolve slowly over the years or decades?

And the dialog. God, as I stated above, it was seriously laughable more than once.

For once I have to say that a novel needed SERIOUS padding.

It'll be very interesting to see if the revival and reprints will lead to new chapters in the two decade old series, but I seriously doubt it.

I think I read about 10 Endworld books and maybe 2 Blade books.

Even back then I thought the books were bottom of the barrel, lowest common denominator. Stereotypical characters, ridiculous mutant creatures.

As I recall they made the dumbest DL novel seem like it had been written by--well, by Mark Ellis!

This recent book (Doomsday) is the preface to the other books that come about later in the serious. As books that are post-apocalyptic in genre, I found them enlightening. Yes, there are some things that I wouldn’t right if I was the author. But the same can be said of other post-apocalyptic books. For pure relation reading, they are fine. In fact, I am reading them in serious now.
