I started reading DL because I got one of the books from a friend.  The book was Shadow Fortress.  I was hooked from then on.  I started getting the Graphic Audio books and have been really impressed with them.  I started thinking about the novels and the different story arc's.  I believe my favorites have been the Marshall Island story line and the Operation Coldfire story line.  Anyone else have a favorite?

My favorite most recently was the Empire of Xibalba (Plague Lords & Dark Resurrection). It really blew the lid off of Deathlands and opened up whole new story opportunities, should any of the new authors choose to pick up the thread.

    Hmmmmm.....

Strassers was pretty good, as was Zimyanin(spl)

I havent read the older books in a while, so i cant remember if the companions ever encountered Zimyanin again when he left the mat trans and triggered another jump for them....

Could be a good storyline to continue if not resolved.

I always wanted them to get into Area 51 somehow, and uncover some serious secrets or something along those lines.  And I can't believe they havent gone back to Traders long lost hidden fortress in the Aps, it would be dazzling to get a glimpse at his old base and how it was setup.

They met Zimyanin again indeed as Ryan watched him fall to his own death in Chill Factor (by far one of the best DL books ever)

Alot of us DL folk would like to have seen more of Tovarisch (comrade) Zimyanin, but I am pretty certain he perished.

You need to read Outlanders to find out what is inside Area 51...

My favorite DL storyline involves the return of The Trader.
Rider Reaper,Road Wars,Trader Redux, and the next 2/3 books where Ryan's authority nearly leads to a confrontation between him and Trader kept my eyes glued to the pages.
I wanted the fight between Ryan and Trader but it never happened.
I know The Trader and Abe made it.
If LJ was still writing we would have already ran into the Trader again I have no doubt.

Quick question, was all of Traders war wags/trucks/supplies(besides his hidden stockades) and people with him when strasser gassed the main train in Pilgrimage To Hell?

If not, what happened to his base in the Apps mountains where he built/retooled his war wags, brought millions of barrels of gas(him and marshal folsom battling cannies etc along the way) etc etc.

There should be a storyline about that maybe....

And if the Trader comes back again, he needs to be brought back in real style, as in Ryan and his friends in some helpless situation...the writer making it so good even the reader begins to doubt if a companion or two might even survive*maybe locked up chained, no escape, guards watching over them in the same room i dunno)..helpless, real helpless..

Then the ville gets destroyed because its the typical evil baron hellzone, guards go out to fight in the hallway, and a familier bark of an Armalite cuts them down....the end of the book should be ryan and jb looking at each other with recongition on thier faces...

    What a massive ending

Imagine in the next book if it wouldnt even be him

That would be great if Allan Phillipson or Mark Ellis wrote it.

Maybe a newer author who actually read the older books for research about The Trader?

Not all of them, I don't think.

If not, what happened to his base in the Apps mountains where he built/retooled his war wags, brought millions of barrels of gas(him and marshal folsom battling cannies etc along the way) etc etc.

That's a good question. And does anyone know what happened to Marsh? Trader only ever referred to him in the past tense, but he never says whether or not Marsh is dead, or what happened to him.

And if the Trader comes back again...

I dunno. Ryan and Trader didn't exactly part on good terms last time, if you recall - they were constantly struggling for leadership of the group, and Trader finally realized that he needed to step aside. I think he's well and truly dead this time.
