That's correct, Ron. And the series is promoted on  Harlequin's Romance site, unlike other GE products. I believe a person can order the RA series from that site as well. Don't mean to cause friction, just providing some info.

A lot of nonsense has been posted about me and Outlanders over the years--sometimes through misunderstandings, sometimes deliberately--so it can be a little difficutl to know what the straight story is.

Mark, Cathy here. Rogue Angel isn't marketed as a Gold Eagle product, it's marketed as a Romance product. Just my 2 cents. Harlequin promotes Romance products. GE is and always has been the poor cousin.

So Rogue Angel is a series promoted from the beginning as being published by Gold Eagle, has the Gold Eagle logo on it, but when the issue of fair treatment about a Gold Eagle writer comes up, then it's not really a Gold Eagle series.

That IS convenient.

I never said it WASN'T a Gold Eagle series. I said that Harlequin markets Rogue Angel as if it were a Romance series. My point is that GE hasn't been promoted to any degree by Harlequin. So here comes a GE series that has a female protagonist, and Harlequin promotes the series on its home page.

Interestingly enough Outlanders has had not one, but two female protagonists since day one...

Seems pretty obvious to me. A sole female lead, vs an ensemble that features two strong females. And let's face it, no matter how strong Brigid and Domi are, the series revolves around Kane and Grant.

The Outlanders series was conceived and constructed from the beginning to revolve equally around Kane, Grant and Brigid. I've actually "parked" Grant more often than I ever did Brigid.

When I reviewed the qualities that the vast majority of the cancelled GE series lacked, the absence of strong, central female characters was one of them.

Significantly, one of the earliest criticisms that was conveyed to me from editorial higher-ups in regards to Outlanders was that Brigid was too strong a character for the then-accepted standard of a GE heroine.

And of course...employing myths and legends from all cultures was one of the underpinnings of Outlanders from the outset.

So...if nothing else, Outlanders laid the groundwork and proved there was an audience for a series featuring a strong female lead dealing with the outre' and the paranormal.

Just like I'd maintained way back in 1996.

The discussion seemed pretty civil to me. Nobody typed anything in all caps.

Besides, it was less about OL Vs. DL than Facts Vs. Assumptions. Rogue Angel was mentioned about as many times as either DL and OL.

Besides, as has been pointed out many times on these forums, discussions go in the direction in which they go.

Yup, I have no issues with how this thread has developed. Differing opinions are just fine, clarifying facts vs. misperceptions is peachy keen, as long as nobody starts in with personal insults. It's all good.

As far as a lot of us veteran Outlanders fans are concerned, the series is dead for all intents and purposes. For us, the last "real" Outlanders novel was published in November. For anybody to continue carping on whether DL or OL is better all these years afterward is becoming very irrelevant.

Then why bother to chime in on a topic that no longer interests you? What value did you just bring to the conversation?

The same value as posts about why somebody doesn't like OL in a thread about an old DL book.
