Me too.

My 15 year old son was 4'11" three years ago, he is now about a half inch short of my 6'2" and has a much more gruff voice and crazy sense of humour

Has it really been 6 yrs since Dean got shelved? What has he been doing in the 3 years? I wonder if anyone at GE has thought about a storyline that parallels Dean's movements with the Groups? Another one of my questions on the whole Dean thing is what is he going to be like when he returns?

Yeah just read the teser.  Sounds like a real read. The last statement is intersting too.

If I were to guess the author from the summary, I'd say Andy Boot*. Which is nearly as bad, but at least he's readable.

* Rather appropriate, really, since he wrote Separation.

While I certainly don't love Andy Boot's work in general, it's worth pointing out that he wrote Thunder Road which was near-universally liked. He is very capable of writing a good book. Here's hoping he has risen to the occasion for #100...

Ron: I haven't read it, so I couldn't say. I've long held the thought, though, that if we could mash Boot and Pollotta together, we'd get a super-writer. Boot can write a decent plot - his books are just really slow. Pollotta, OTOH, has a great imagination and adds lots of action, but he makes things up as he goes along with no regard for reality (ejection seats in a C-130??) and recycles the same material, no matter how improbable (like the hunter-apes in Utah).

Its quite ironic that Laurence really like Andy Boots work that he provided when they were looking for a replacement for LJ and he did comment that Andy had the potential to continue the DL series in the same style as had gone before (i.e LJ's writing style). Sadlly this has not come to pass.

I have often wondered if he was willing to put in the effort but never bothered as GE will publish any old sh!te without any comeback on the writer in question?

I liked Thunder Road too. I'm not that big an Andy Boot fan but I think he does take a beating. When he's bad, he's really bad. But he is capable of writing a good yarn.
