Just curious, but do they not put the authors name on the Bib page of books that have not yet been released? I noticed that the author name is not present for #87 and #88 Bib. pages. Again, just curious.

    Also, Great site!!!!

Thanks, glad you like the site.

Except in some very rare cases, I generally don't know who the author is until I have a copy of the book in my hands. I get the books through Reader Service, which means I usually get them one or two months before their general publication date. If the author isn't listed on the copyright page, then I have a few other resources I can go to in order to find out the author. So yeah, I usually can't add the author to the bibliography until about a month before it's publication date.

Hey, thanks for the clarification Ron. I've been nosing around, reading forums for the past few hours and just can't get over how great this site is. I was really wow'd by all the information here, AND even more by the fact that some of the DL and OL authors are here too. Great job Ron.

Hope to get back here frequently.

Any luck finding out who the author is yet?  I wonder why GE doesn't put the writer's name on the copyright page like they do with all the other titles.

Perhaps the GE editors are confused and think there really is a "James Axler"?

Other interesting questions: Why do the DL payment checks come from Switzerland (as I recall, checks for the other series are issued inside the U.S.); and why don't the DL authors get Form 1099s on the income?

The Phantom, that is the conundrum.  Whether to assume (for the sake of a cheap guffaw) that the Swiss bank used by Harlequin Enterprises, Ltd. does not report the DL writers' income to the IRS; or that the Swiss bank reports the money to IRS but not to the lowly DL writers in a Form 1099?  It's kind of a Clint Eastwood "Do you feel lucky?" problem--only your luck has to hold for five years of IRS lookback (or is it seven?).

I've always paid taxes on the Swiss DL income. I'm what you might call "paranoid" in that regard; and besides, pretax it amounts to nothing more than a smallish bucket of goat turds, anyway.

Though it may sound like I know what I'm talking about, I'm not qualified to give other DL authors advice on tax matters--except KEEP ALL YOUR RECEIPTS!

I asked former DL/OL editor Eva Kovacs about that many moons ago...

If I recall correctly, only the series GE claims copyright on are paid out of Switzerland.

All the other series like the Bolan program and The Destroyer were licensed properties and so were paid out of a US banks, presumably for legal reasons.

I'm guessing the Rogue Angel writers are paid from that same Swiss bank, too.

MY OL royalty checks were drawn on that bank as well.

Mark, when you wrote Bolans did you get a Canadian 1099?  I remember when I was doing SOBs and Bolans I used to get this green Canadian tax form in the mail--it always came two or three months AFTER the April 15th deadline, and sometimes it was torn and wadded up in a ball inside the envelope.

Did Eva ever mention anything about Harlequin reporting the Swiss checks and author Socials to the IRS?

Amen to that.  The inaccuracies are distracting.  The last time I brought up the subject of their weapons it was suggested that I shouldn't bring up such topics as they have already been discussed extensively on this forun in the past, apparently during the Taft administration (just joking, don't sound the troll alarm).

    WARNING: Possible Spoilers!
Recently finished DC and it was a pretty good one... I have in the past truly enjoyed Andy Boot's writing and hopefully will again... it was good to see some old faces again and I thought it was pretty awesome to get some backround on Mr. Stoic himself- J.B. Dix... I believe I have stated elsewhere that I love good battle scenes and plenty of them, so I have to be honest here... the book almost feels like Boot spent too much time on the "life and times of J.B.", all the while managing to keep War Wag One from firing a single round... and then had to rush through the present day -present day nukecaust America- portions of the book... maybe this is just droolie shit from the mouth of a feeb but it is my opinion...

    Dark Warrior and Finn,F**kin A!!!!

I have the exact same problem about the authors making so many retarded mistakes as far as the firearms are concerned, yet if you do that you run the risk of discussing a "beaten to death topic"being called a Troll,or as I had to do today, actually prove to one of the authors his mistakes by going through a book and pointing all of them out page by page(he did not seem too pleased with me by the way, haha)
You guys should join the group that Bury the Sun (and maybe me?)want to start about discussing weapons without getting attacked by those ignorant of firearms(or maybe they just don't care about guns like us?)

I wonder, how you can have 2 well written books (Plague Lords and Dark Resurrection) then get this mess (Desolation Crossing)?

Spending 3 pages describing how the convoy is trying to slow down was really testing my patience.

Jak clearly hearing the female's story and then hitting her with a thrown knife at 200 yards is just absurd.

The entire town getting drunk or high that NO ONE was on duty defending it.  I don't think so.

Abe was the rear gunner on war wag I not the #2 man, Poet was.

Trader doesn't know how to read.  Duh!

Usually I give away the just read book to a friend of mine to read.  This one just went into the trash.

Easy answer my friend;Too many different authors!

The reason the 2 Plague Lord's book were so good and the next sucked is because Allan P.wrote the Plague Lords and Dark Resurection, some other joker wrote the next one.

Hold on there OEV! Andy Boot's writing may be a little over the top... and inaccurate... and have large holes in the plot... and be nowhere near as good as some authors I can think of... but I have liked a few of his books, not all, but a few were pretty good... if only I could think of them...
    lol
