Now this was a awesome book!! Vampires  (well sort of) but was it me or was it painfully obvious that they were vampires? Wow it took them along time to piece that one together

I was disappointed though at the end of the book, one of them got through and jumped with them in the matt-trans, and in the next book, he just died (after trying to choke Ryan) I was hoping it would have been a little more interesting then that, would have been cool if he had gotten away and been a long term enemy..

Well, in that lies a tale...

Thanks folks. Whether I stay around or not depends if the owner still thinks I'm a troll...

Anyhow, thats all water under the bridge.

Back to Bloodlines and the rapid demise of Melmoth at the start of Crossways...

Melmoth was named for the lead character in "Melmoth the Wanderer" a gothic story published in 1820 and written by Charles Robert Maturin...

Laurence had plans to have Melmoth badly hurt Ryan at the start of Crossways and escape to become a recuring "pain in the arse" (His words to me in a letter from 1998) to the group in future books. GE didn't go for this idea (somethings never change do they?) and he had to change the start of Crossways at the 11th hour to remove all references of this and kill off Melmoth.

Bloodlines is one of my favorite DL books of all, followed by Dectra Chain and Time Nomads.

Finally to answer ShadowTek in his post that started all this

...was it me or was it painfully obvious that they were vampires?

Yes it is obvious to us but to Ryan & Co -who have never read about Vampires it was not be AND before you say "what about Mildred?" Well to her Vampires are things of fiction -they don't exist in the real world only in books and films...

That makes sense as the cover of Crossways shows the vampire on it, even though hes only in the very beginning. That also sort of answers another question I had in another topic about GE. Thanks for that info

Baz was a personal friend of Laurence James, the original Deathlands author. Unfortunately, Mr. James passed away several years ago.

    It was this one:
    http://www.jamesaxler.com...ic/Default.aspx#4375

But it didn't go so well, but as you pointed out I think it was not so good I would guess, but yes its cool having "inside info"  Also thanks for the correction! As I listen to the GA audio books, I go by what I hear. So I may mess up on the spelling, for example Ryans gun is called a "Six Sour"? That is what it sounds like but know that cant be right lol

Glad to be of help to you.

Sadly all my knowledge of the DL books "inside" workings only goes as far as the books Laurence penned and what he chose to tell me about them.

SIG Sauer is the German arm of the Swiss company "Swiss Arms AG" and so the way the name is spoken is correct with the second part being pronounced as you would say "sour" SIG is an acronym of Schweizerische Industrie Gesellschaft and pronounced as you would the first syllable of "signal", so we say "sig sour". The American arm of the company is called SIGArms inc. and was founded in 1985.

Thanks again for the info, I knew I was way off on that gun name, Sig Sauer makes allot more sense then Six Sour haha
