Teaser:

A reference to ancient mysterious powers sends Kane, Brigid Baptiste and Grant to the wild hinterlands of Ireland, whose stone ruins may function as a gateway for the alien Archons.

But the Emerald Isle's blend of ancient magic and advanced technology, as wielded by a powerful woman, brings them to the very brink of oblivion.

On the Emerald Isle, stone megaliths guard the old ways and the people who returned to them. In this cradle of Celtic lore, Kane searches for clues to the fateful enmity that shadows their hopes. But not even his fierce will nor Brigid Baptiste's empathy for the ancient ways and Grant's warrior instincts prepares them for an encounter with a woman whose ancient earth magic and otherworld technology bring them shatteringly close to the truth.

The author, James Axler, 08/21/97 (posted to amazon.com):

Secrets of the Stones

In the third entry in the new Outlanders series, Kane, Grant and Baptiste travel to the wild hinterlands of Ireland in search of an ancient means to battle the Archon Directorate. They encounter both a new enemy and a woman who manipulates the otherworldly energies of the megaliths. They must choose between destroying their adversaries or the soul of an innocent.

Off and Running!
by Robey
With Savage Sun, the Outlanders series was really off and running!!

This novel had everything which later became hallmarks and touchstones for the series, from the interweaving of myth and legend, the super-science, the vicious super-villains and their , world-threatening plans, the apocalyptic, climatic battles--not to mention some pretty funny dialogue and smart-ass remarks thrown in.

Sexy women characters abound in this one, too another hallmark of the Outlanders series...Morrigan the blind but beautiful telepath and Fand, the drop-dead gorgeous but deranged demi-goddess.

This is the book which first introduced the concept of the extraterrestrial Annunaki and their ancient pact with the Tuatha De Danaan to keep humanity secretly enslaved.

Man--There are so many great things about this book! Action!!Colorful locales!!! Violence! Sex! Fistfights! Did I mention sex?!

It would be easier for everyone to just go and read the book that for me to list everything that's wonderful about about it. Just writing about it now makes me want to go and read it again--for about the fourth time.

Not a book for DL only fans...
by The Phantom
This book moves this series furthur in a different direction than it's cousin, Deathlands. Sci-fi fantasy takes a much greater role and the extensive backround of history and legend is a large part of this novel. There is much to absorb on each page.

This book isn't perfect, but good enough to give it the full ten stars. Great adventure and enough action to slake anyones thirst for a really great reading experience.

Very imaginitive and interesting characters and events make this series a fun way to read science fiction.

SAVAGELY DELICIOUS!
by One Eye Chills
SAVAGE SUN is still one of my all-time best reads. Chock-full of sea muties and half-bred hybrids with so much more thrown in that you don't have time to think. It leaves your head spinning with all the alluding facts of archons tech lore and legends, with Strongbow and his legion of snake-like men throwing Kane and Company into a tailspin adventure.
SAVAGE SUN is just plain modern day Burroughs at his best.
A must read.
